This can be treated with the synthetic hormone Desmopressin; this is in the injection form, or as a pill. This drug helps in preventing the water loss from the body.
? Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus: This type is seen in the patients, when their kidneys fail to respond ADH. This can be treated with the drug called as hydrochlorothiazide or indomethacin. Combination therapy of the drugs can also be used i.e. Hydrochlorothiazide with amiloride drugs.
? Gestational Diabetes Insipidus: This is mainly seen in the pregnant women, the placenta produces an enzyme which destroys ADH in mother. For this case the approach of treatment is with the drug Desmopression.
? Dipsogenic Diabetes Insipidus: This is due to the thirst mechanism defect, which is located in the hypothalamus of the central nervous system. There is no effective treatment for this condition.
